On January 8, 2025, the Hong Kong China Network Security Association (HKCNSA), led by Founding Chairman Mr. David Ip, visited the Hong Kong Institute of Information Technology (HKIIT) for an insightful exchange and collaboration. The delegation, comprising numerous association members, aimed to strengthen ties and foster deeper understanding in the field of cybersecurity. This visit focused on exploring innovative approaches to cultivate high-quality cybersecurity talent and enhance collaborative efforts between HKCNSA and HKIIT.
Established by the Vocational Training Council (VTC) on November 1, 2023, HKIIT is the first higher education institution in Hong Kong dedicated to IT talent development. The institute offers comprehensive IT courses covering areas such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data science, Web 3.0, and the Internet of Things, aiming to fully equip IT professionals for future technological advancements.
During the visit, the delegation, accompanied by Dr. John Hui, President of HKIIT, toured the institute's Cybersecurity Center and Data and Innovation Computing Center. These centers are equipped with advanced facilities and technologies, providing students with practical training platforms that allow them to enhance their cybersecurity skills in simulated real-world environments, laying a solid foundation for their future careers.
Dr. John Hui outlined HKIIT's development strategies and policies, highlighting the urgent need for IT talent in Hong Kong due to the accelerated digital transformation across various industries. He emphasized HKIIT's focus on pre-employment training and its commitment to helping IT professionals and practitioners enhance their digital skills to meet rapidly changing market demands. Dr. Hui also presented the latest advancements in the institute's curriculum design, practical training facilities, and international collaborations, underscoring HKIIT's leading role in IT talent cultivation.
During this visit, the association acquired invaluable insights into Hong Kong's efforts to develop cybersecurity talent.
