On October 19, the “East Kowloon Cyber Teen Talent Development Day” event, jointly organized by the Kowloon East Regional Crime Prevention Office and the Hong Kong China Network Security Association (HKCNSA), and specially sponsored by Beijing HuaShun XinAn Technology Co., Ltd., was successfully held at the Pok Oi Hospital 80th Anniversary Tang Ying Hei College. The event featured a special anti-fraud lecture and four interactive workshops, offering rich and educational content that attracted enthusiastic participation from Form 1 to Form 5 students from various secondary schools in the East Kowloon area. The event aimed to enhance students’ cybersecurity awareness and empower youth to explore and grow confidently in the digital space.
The event began with a speech by Dr. LAW Yuet Wing, Regional Commander of the Kowloon East Regional of the Hong Kong Police Force. Dr. Law emphasized the importance of cybersecurity in today’s digital age and pointed out that as digital natives, young people should have a strong sense of cybersecurity, learn to protect personal and privacy information, and avoid becoming victims of cybercrime. Dr. Law then expressed heartfelt thanks to the event organizers and personally presented certificates of appreciation to various units.

Following this, Officer Fanny from the Kowloon East Regional Crime Prevention Office delivered an engaging anti-fraud lecture to the students. The lecture covered the methods and preventive measures of cyber crime, explaining common online fraud techniques such as phishing emails, fake websites, and social engineering scams, and used real cases to illustrate the fraud process. Officer Fanny also emphasized methods to identify and counter these fraud techniques, such as regularly updating software and operating systems, setting strong passwords, and installing reliable security software on network devices. The students learned important and practical anti-fraud knowledge from the lecture and gained a clearer understanding of how to deal with cyber risks in daily life.

After the lecture, the event continued with four interactive workshops meticulously planned by members of the HKCNSA Talent Development and Education Committee and Youth Committee, along with representatives from Meta Dot Limited. The workshops covered a variety of topics, including Digital Footprint, Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), Google Hacking, and AI (Deepfake). The activities were interactive, educational, and challenging, allowing students to learn comprehensive and practical cybersecurity knowledge in a fun and engaging way, and further enhance their ability to respond to cyber threats through hands-on practice.

At the end of the event, participating students received commemorative gifts sponsored by HuaShun XinAn, and participation certificates presented by Dr. Dr. Law Yuet Wing, marking a significant step in their journey in the field of cybersecurity.
