On September 25th, Mr. Wilson Tang, Consultant representative of the Hong Kong China Network Security Association (HKCNSA) and Chief Information Security Officer of Hong Kong Broadband Network, provided an analysis and interpretation of recent information security incidents in Hong Kong. The information security incidents in Hong Kong have sparked widespread discussion and concern. According to reports, attackers successfully infiltrated the network system of a major digital technology hub in Hong Kong and stole a large amount of confidential data. To better understand and address this incident, HKCNSA held an internal sharing session, inviting Mr. Wilson Tang to provide in-depth interpretation and professional advice.

During the session, Mr. Wilson Tang provided a concise and comprehensive introduction to the possible causes and flows of the incident. He pointed out that the incident was likely triggered by a series of cyber-attacks, involving the illegal acquisition and misuse of information from multiple businesses and individuals. Attackers infiltrated the target systems unnoticed by exploiting various vulnerabilities, engaging in social engineering tactics, and utilizing malicious software to steal critical data.

In response to this information security incident, Mr. Wilson Tang proposed a series of measures to enhance network security defenses. Firstly, he emphasized the importance of establishing robust network defense systems for both companies and individuals, which includes using the latest security equipment and software, and regularly updating patches and system upgrades. Secondly, he recommended adopting 2-factor authentication and zero-trust network access, such as combining passwords with biometric or fingerprint recognition to increase security. Additionally, effective risk management is essential. By identifying and patching vulnerabilities in systems, the risk of being attacked can be greatly reduced.


Through this event, participants actively engaged in discussions and shared their viewpoints and experiences, contributing to the advancement and development of the field of cybersecurity.
