On December 6, the Inauguration Ceremony of Hong Kong China Network Security Association(HKCNSA)luncheon was successfully held at the Conrad Hong Kong, inviting guests from various fields such as government, enterprises and industry experts to attend. This event aims to officially announce the establishment of the association, promote exchanges and cooperation in the field of cybersecurity, and make positive contributions to the cause of cybersecurity.
Before the event officially began, Mr. David Ip, the founding chairman of the association, delivered a welcome speech. He first warmly welcomed the guests present and pointed out the severity of the current network security situation. He stated that in order to respond to this threat, he founded the HKCNSA with the aim of building a network security cooperation platform between China and Hong Kong, promoting industry development, expanding talent reserves, and enhancing Hong Kong's competitiveness in network integrity and overall innovation environment. The members of the association include senior network security companies and experts from China, Hong Kong, and Macau, who possess rich experience and strong technical capabilities. Additionally, the association will cooperate with relevant stakeholders to provide support to all industries and deliver network security-related information and recommendations to enterprises and the public through different platforms to enhance the overall network security level of society.
Hon. Mr. Duncan Chiu, the Legislative Council Member Technology & Innovation Constituency, said that the establishment of the HKCNSA is of great significance in promoting cybersecurity. He believes that with the continuous development of scientific and technological products, the level of its various aspects is also constantly improving. He hopes that by strengthening cybersecurity cooperation, the level of science and technology products between the mainland and Hong Kong can be promoted, so that more cybersecurity enterprises and other technology products can be landed and applied in Hong Kong. At the same time, with the support of the government, through strengthening cooperation, improving technology standards, improving policies and regulations, we will promote the scientific and technological products of the mainland and Hong Kong to the world stage, and contribute to the construction of a global cybersecurity system.
Mr. Daniel Cheung, Assistant Government Chief Information Officer (Cyber Security and Digital Identity), congratulated the association's establishment and emphasized the importance of cybersecurity in national security. He called for joint efforts to maintain a secure online space to promote the development of the digital economy and the construction of a smart Hong Kong. Additionally, the government has taken various measures in recent years to strengthen network security work, including promoting information sharing, talent training, and supporting small and medium-sized enterprises. He believes that the association will provide an industry development platform to further strengthen cooperation with the government and industry experts from all parties to promote the development of network security in Hong Kong.
Mr. Brad KWOK, Acting Chief Personal Data Officer (Compliance & Enquiries) of the PCPD, introduced the Office's collaboration with the Hong Kong Productivity Council to publish a survey report on "Hong Kong Enterprise Cyber Security Readiness Index and Privacy Awareness", emphasizing the importance of network security. He pointed out that network attacks can have serious impacts on individuals and businesses, and may lead to business secrets and customer data leakage, causing significant losses to companies. Therefore, the Office has launched a series of measures, including guidelines on data security, topic web pages, hotlines, and online detection tools to help companies enhance their network security awareness and protect personal data privacy. Moreover, he congratulated the establishment of the association and believed that it would provide a cooperative platform for the cybersecurity industry to jointly maintain the network security of Hong Kong and China.
During the event, Mr. David Ip awarded appointment certificates to the consultants and committee members of the association. These experts enjoy high reputations in the field of network security and their participation will bring vitality to the association and further promote the development of the network security industry. The association warmly welcomes their joining and looks forward to their valuable guidance in their respective professional fields for the development of the association.
Subsequently, Mr. Joe Yip, Vice President of the association, introduced the purpose of the association's establishment, the professional affairs structure, and recent activity reviews to the attendees. He stated that the establishment of the association aims to build a network security platform connecting Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau, provide professional support and guidance to members, help them better develop the Chinese market, and respond to increasingly complex network security threats. Additionally, the association will actively promote communication and cooperation in the field of network security among the three regions of mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau to promote the development of the network security industry and jointly build a safe and reliable network environment.
During the luncheon, the attendees conducted in-depth discussions and exchanges on network security technology, policies, standards, and other aspects, sharing their experiences and insights.
