HKCNSA Workshop Boosts Cybersecurity for Local NGOs

Association representative with Hong Kong NGO representatives and Security Scorecard representatives

On August 19, 2024, the Hong Kong China Network Security Association (HKCNSA) hosted an NGO Workshop in collaboration with globally renowned security rating firm SecurityScorecard. This event brought together local non-profit organizations in Hong Kong to delve deeply into cybersecurity issues, providing them with free cybersecurity rating reports.

Harry Poon, a member of the HKCNSA Critical Infrastructure Committee, and Lin Kai-hong, Regional Director for Hong Kong, China, and Macau at SecurityScorecard, conducted an in-depth analysis of the cybersecurity threats identified in the security rating reports for non-profit organizations. They explored a range of practical solutions to effectively enhance these organizations' cybersecurity defenses.

HKCNSA has long been committed to advancing the local cybersecurity landscape. In response to the recent hacking incident involving Oxfam, the association swiftly mobilized resources within the security industry to actively contribute to safeguarding the cybersecurity of Hong Kong's citizens. Through its collaboration with SecurityScorecard, HKCNSA has offered 20 free SecurityScorecard cybersecurity rating reports to local non-profit organizations. These reports provide a detailed analysis of the cybersecurity risks faced by each organization and offer specific recommendations for mitigating these risks. This enables continuous monitoring of cyber risks and facilitates targeted investments to significantly improve cybersecurity defenses.

As the only non-profit organization in Hong Kong dedicated to the field of cybersecurity, HKCNSA will continue to leverage its professional expertise to provide comprehensive and specialized cybersecurity services to more non-profit organizations and various sectors of society. The value of SecurityScorecard's cybersecurity rating reports is immense, and their support for non-profit organizations sets a benchmark within the industry. We encourage interested non-profit organizations to reach out to us, so we can work together to protect cybersecurity and safeguard every act of kindness and goodwill.
