On December 10, 2024 , the Veeam Data Resilience Summit, hosted by Veeam Software, a global leader in data backup, recovery, and cloud solutions, successfully concluded with the Hong Kong China Network Security Association (HKCNSA) as a supporting organization. The event focused on the upcoming Critical Infrastructure(CI) Cybersecurity Law and data resilience strategies, attracting numerous industry experts, scholars, and corporate executives. Several representatives from HKCNSA were invited to attend and discuss this important topic.
The morning session featured an Executive Luncheon, during which Mr. David Ip, the Founding Chairman of HKCNSA, served as the panel moderator. He engaged in an in-depth dialogue on cybersecurity law with distinguished guests including Anthony Spiteri, Regional CTO APJ & Lead Cloud Technologist at Veeam Software; Chirag Desai, Head of Digital & Channels Solutions at the Hong Kong Jockey Club; and Tom Huang, Head of Technology and Operational Risk at Livi Bank.
The panelists thoroughly analyzed and discussed the potential impacts of the forthcoming CI Cybersecurity Law on corporate organizations, data resilience strategies, and business planning for 2025. They provided valuable insights and perspectives, examining the details of the legal provisions, the strengthened requirements for internal security control mechanisms, and the restrictions on cross-border data flows and cloud computing services.

In the afternoon panel session, Mr. Wilson Tang and Ms. Chandy Ye, Vice Chairman & Vice Chairlady of HKCNSA, along with Mr.Billy Fung , Deputy Director of Financial Services Cybersecurity Committee, and Mr. William Tam, Member of the Data Privacy Committee, participated as guest speakers. They were joined by Mr. Dominic Cho, Executive Deputy General Manage at CITIC Bank and Mr. Chris Tong, Solution Architect Hong Kong and Taiwan of Veeam Software, to focus on how enterprises should prepare for the upcoming cybersecurity law.

The panelists delved into various aspects such as adjustments to internal management mechanisms, enhancement of data protection measures, and improvement of emergency response capabilities. They shared numerous practical experiences and innovative ideas, emphasizing the need for enterprises to strengthen their understanding and awareness of the cybersecurity law, promptly adjust internal management mechanisms, and ensure the protection of data and privacy rights. Additionally, they highlighted the importance of building robust emergency response capabilities to improve the efficiency and accuracy of handling cybersecurity incidents.
This event provided an important platform for information exchange within the industry, deepening the understanding of the CI Cybersecurity Law and offering valuable experiences and suggestions on how to respond to the upcoming regulations. During the event, Mr. David Ip, was also invited to participate in a tech media interview. He shared his insights on data protection and the development of Hong Kong's network enterprises in 2025.
