HKCNSA Participates in Cyber Security Summit Hong Kong 2024, Exploring New Developments in AI and Cybersecurity

From October 23 to 24, 2024, the Cyber Security Summit Hong Kong 2024, organized by the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) and supported by the Hong Kong China Network Security Association, was successfully held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Themed “Cyber Security Fortification: The AI Paradox”, this year’s Summit explores the latest trends in information security, with the focus on digital transformation, legislation, privacy, compliance management, and more.

The Summit will feature more than 30 speaking sessions, 3 panel discussions, brought together information security experts from Hong Kong, the Chinese Mainland and all over the world, to share cutting-edge knowledge in the field of cyber security, particularly on how to enhance cyber security measures in the tech era, and the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in cyber security, along with the latest technologies and solutions. David, Founding Chairman of the HKCNSA, was honored to participate in the panel discussions and keynote sessions.

 

During the Panel Discussion, David and other guests focused on the theme “Harnessing Al in Cybersecurity: Exploring lts Double-Edged Nature” discussing Discover how AI can both enhance security measures and pose potential risks when misused. David emphasized that while AI applications in cybersecurity can provide strong defense capabilities, they can also be exploited by malicious actors. Therefore, enterprises and government agencies need to establish sound regulatory mechanisms and technical defenses to prevent the misuse of AI technologies.

Additionally, David delivered a keynote speech titled “The Cybersecurity Market Ecosystem in Mainland China and Hong Kong,” delving into the current state and future development directions of cybersecurity cooperation between the two regions. He pointed out that with the rapid development of the digital economy, the cybersecurity markets in Mainland China and Hong Kong are facing new opportunities and challenges, emphasizing the necessity of strengthening cooperation. Mr. Ye suggested that the two regions should learn from Hong Kong’s experiences in the cybersecurity industry, including cloud security, AI, IoT security, data privacy protection, and cybersecurity insurance. He also mentioned that the two regions should enhance cooperation, strengthen talent cultivation, and improve policies and regulations to jointly address cybersecurity challenges.
