HKCNSA Breakfast Briefing was successfully held, providing in-depth analysis of Hong Kong's first cybersecurity law for critical infrastructure

On September 5, the Hong Kong China Network Security Association (HKCNSA) successfully hosted a breakfast briefing at the Brunswick Group office. The event brought together top cybersecurity professionals from various industries to discuss Hong Kong’s first cybersecurity law for critical infrastructure, which the government had rolled out in June. The briefing focused on questions such as “What are the optimal strategies for developing comprehensive cybersecurity approaches?” and “How can businesses implement measures to mitigate risks effectively?”

Mr. David Ip,  Founder and Chairman of Hong Kong China Network Security Association, alongside Mr. Billy Fung,  head of IT Infrastructure and Operations of Airstar Bank, Ms. Silvia Ihensekhien,  Group CISO of Swire Coca-Cola, Ms. Frankie Tam,  Partner of Technology of Eversheds Sutherland, and Ms. Lydia Tsui, Director and Hong Kong Lead of Cybersecurity of Brunswick Group, participated in the panel discussion.  Topics covered the upcoming legal framework for Cl, market incident response providers, third party risk management, ClOs' R&R, regulators' view on market situations, etc. They shared their views on the new law and proposed a series of protective strategies to reduce network security risks based on practical cases, providing valuable reference value for the attendees.

This briefing emphasized that cybersecurity is not only a technical concern but also a critical aspect of governance involving operations, regulatory compliance, and company culture. Through case studies and discussions, attendees gained insights into enhancing cross-department collaboration and effective ways to prevent and address cybersecurity challenges. The event provided a well-rounded perspective on managing cybersecurity complexities in today’s digital environment.

HKCNSA sincerely thanks the generous support of Brunswick Group and individual member Ms. Lydia Tsui, for providing the comfortable venue free of charge. Looking ahead, HKCNSA will continue to closely monitor the latest developments in the field of cybersecurity and strive to build more high-quality legal and network discussion and exchange platforms for association members and various sectors of society to jointly explore the latest policy directions and regulatory requirements of cybersecurity. The association will actively promote the continuous improvement of cybersecurity laws and strategies to cope with the increasingly complex cybersecurity challenges.
